What Does it Take to be an ICT Student?

ICT, we know that it’s about computers – history, parts, function, and the important uses. At first, on my first year in this school, I thought that this subject will be that hard – because I know that a computer is a very complicated machine – but it was not. For me, being an ICT student is not that hard, you just need a deep understanding about computers, its parts and functions. And in every activity like making a web designs, working on Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4, and having a blog, you just need to have a wide imagination and creativity to make your work an awesome one. I just want to thank our teacher in ICT-IV, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz, in teaching us on every lessons we had, like working on Photoshop, Blogs, and making a web design. I like to be an ICT student, because for me, it’s fun and I can have more knowledge on computers.

My Dream, My Future

Dream… What is dream for you? At first time you’ll hear it I know that the first thing that comes in to your mind is the one that happens while you are sleeping. But dream is not just dreaming, a dream can be you’re plan – a plan for the future and for your own betterment or for others. Having a dream can make you strive harder to reach it. It is like a soccer game wherein you’re dream be your goal and to be able to reach it, you must exert more and more effort. Dream must not always stay as a dream. A dream must be grant and make it real. Grant that dream for yourself, for them, for us, for the betterment of life. We must always remember that a dream is made to have a goal in life. Move and make it real and take it seriously.

Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival

Festivals… well, I know that we are already used to these occasions. Here, in the Philippines, is one of the countries who have so many festivals the whole year round. There’s the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio, the great Higantes Festival in Mindoro, Maskara Festival in Bacolod, Pintados Festival in Tacloban, and many other Festivals. And here at Ilocos Sur, we’ve got the Festival called Kannawidan. Kannawidan Festival has just started a few years before. It is one of the youngest Festivals here in the Philippines. Well, “Kannawidan” is an Ilocano word which means “group”. This Festival was made so that the Ilocanos will be bind together and will have a stronger friendship to each other. This year, the Kannawidan has so many shows including the Siglat Ylocandia (a local version of PGT- a show of ABS-CBN network), Saniata, Zarzuela, and more. Yes, Philippines have many Festivals but, even if it was like that, we will always be FILIPINOS.

What Difference Can You Make?

Can you make a difference? Can you change other people’s life? Can you change yourself for the betterment of others? Sharing ideas, experiences and meaningful things in life to others can make a lot of difference. Sharing can change the life of others. It teach them how to make things right, can correct their bad ways and change the future in them. Continue sharing so you can make more difference and so as to change lives. What about a much more difference? Sharing ideas, experiences and meaningful things in life to children can make a much more difference. They are the future, the new generation, the future leaders, and the one to make our world to its betterment.

New Year, New Me

Every year, when calendar restarts, everyone has a plan of changing. It was like a tradition to everyone so that they’re friends will always like them. Change is always a part of our lives and will always be a part of it. But the biggest change in our lives can be every year. Because every other year we always have a new chapter of our lives and new chapter can lead to a new personality. My new year had changed me in some things. It changed me the way I look, talk, think. Changed me the way I was before. Changing was just normal for me because change is a thing that corrects your bad ways.

“Keeping in Mind Our Mother Tongue”

Mother tongue… is this word new to you? Well, I am also curious about it when I first met this phrase. What if they told you when they say that “Keep in mind your mother tongue,” what will be the first thing that comes in to your mind? Mother tongue is a phrase which means “first language” or national language. We, Filipinos, are loyal to our country, which was one of the main reasons to make us known worldwide. Mainly in loving the history of it and keeping in our mind the people who made a name in this country. Our language “Tagalog” must be the most important to keep in our heads. It is our own trademark in the world. It helps us communicate to other easily. We must love it because it’s our own, one which came in our own land, and own. Like Jose Rizal, our national hero, once said, “Ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay mas masahol pa sa malansang isda.” We must love our own language because it is in every Filipinos soul and in every man who wasted they’re lives just for our country.

Love: True Essence of Christmas

Christmas… Do you know what Christmas is really for? Some celebrate it just for exchanging gifts, playing firecrackers and preparing many foods to eat, but they should also know the real and true essence of this celebration. Birth of Jesus Christ… This is what Christmas is. Some had already forgotten that this celebration is the Birth of Jesus Christ and celebrating this must be with love and joy. It must not only be seen on exchanging gifts, playing firecrackers and preparing many foods, like a feast, but sharing love everyone, friends or enemies, forgiving yourself and the sins of others. Love… Share it to everyone and you can find the true essence of Christmas.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities

Human Rights, Gender Equality- Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities. Centuries before, inequality started between men and women. It was a long ago when women was treated very low by men. Those men before treated these women as slaves in every part of the world. Some also treated them as life-time slaves- life-time slaves because they will be slaves to them until those men die. They even put them in their coffins alive. But, as time pass by this discrimination is slowly disappearing. But these days, a new problem in inequality arose. Inequality in Human Rights, this inequality is now between the rich and the poor. This inequality is now one of the biggest problems in the world, primarily in justice. Most of the poor people lose in their cases because of lack of money and some rich people will pay the judge to win the case. On these days, anything can be bought using money but at the same time, money can’t buy everything. The government must act before the rich people can already buy everything using their power. Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities must be in hands of everyone.

Change….

How do we define change? For many people, to become different, transform, make difference, is what they call a change. Some find change to cover their real personality or to cover the real them. Change… This is just a normal thing to us. We change every year, months, days, hours, minutes, and even just in a few seconds. But, change is not just change- change is not a simple thing. Change must be a “good change”, means that we must change for the better. Change for the right things and not for non-sense. We must make change for the betterment of our life and also for others. Learn how to change for the better to make your life more meaningful. Change is already a part to our daily lives and affects everything every time we change. Change… For better life!

Climate Change…?

Climate Change…? What is that thing they’re talking about? Why is it a common topic in so many countries? Can it affect lives? Climate change can affect the temperature or the sudden change of temperature in a place, they say. It can be a decrease or increase of temperature in a place that was caused by the greenhouse gases. But, too much increase of temperature can be a threat. This too much increase of temperature is what they call the Global Warming, and this is a threat to everyone. Global Warming can make the Arctic Ocean’s ice cover to melt in a very fast rate. That melting could lead to a large climate change by altering the cold currents flowing out of the Arctic and by decreasing the amount of sunlight reflected away by the ice cap. For me, climate change was not the problem but it’s the Global Warming, because this was not just a small warming on Earth but a very wide and long-time warming on the Earth that can lead to destruction.

“Wanted: Change…..Reward: A Longer Life”

Want a longer life? Well, it’s not that easy to get but, I know that you, I, them……. “We” can do it. But, before getting this reward we must first have the thing they call “CHANGE”. Change! Yes, this is the solution to a longer life…Change! But, change am I talking about? This change is about you, it’s about me, them…… “Us” and every people in this world. Changing does not only mean to change your bad characters but changing all the things that you do that makes this whole world near to destruction. Change! Stop anything that has a bad effect to everything. We must stop “NOW”. Now is the time to make change… There is “NO TOMORROW”. Stopping all the activities like illegal logging, illegal mining, illegal fishing and all the illegal in this world can make that change to come “NOW”. You must also remember that there’s no “I”, “you”, or “them” in changing but there’s the word “we”…………….. “we” for change and “we” for a longer life………..

“Chemergy: Chemistry and Science Clubbing in Synergy”

Chemistry, one of the most hated subject of most students in present times. It is because that chemistry uses more complicated language or signs in computing than in mathematics. But, chemistry is still as important as any subject is, because it is needed for a country to develop, rise, and become successful. Chemistry has a very big contribution to a country. It is applied agriculturally, industrially, and in different braches of science and technology. Chemistry is also used to make medicines, repellants, insecticides, pesticides, and other needed for households and things that are useful to man. It can also solve problems in a country. So, synergy, meaning together, of chemistry and science clubbing, in short chemergy, is very useful and helpful to mankind for it is applicable in many ways and is important to a country for its betterment.

“Teacher: A Hero and A Builder”

Superheroes…..? Well, they’re good, they’re strong and they’re helpful but they’re just fictional and are not true. How about heroes who touches our lives everyday and make our everyday life meaningful? Did you already saw someone like this? Yes, the real one. Well, I’ll tell you who they are and I know that you also know them but you just don’t know that they are HEROES.
Superheroes, Heroes, Savior, whatever you call them, but oh, wait, I’m not talking about heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder woman…..I was talking about the people around us, I was talking about…..the TEACHERS. Yes, teachers they are…..they are one of our real-life heroes. They give us knowledge everyday when we go to school, correct us in our wrong doings, they’re guiding us in our everyday lives and helping us to be a good citizen.
They are real heroes because they are our second parents and like our parents, they are taking care of us like their own children and they are feeding us with more and more knowledge. And the main reason why they are really real heroes is that they are the creators or builders of those Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and others.
So, if you can read this short essay that I made…..Thank a Teacher. Let them enter your lives for they will share you some knowledge in life, let them guide you as you take your journey in life and as students, let us respect them like they’re taking good care of us.

Real Life Heroes

In movies there were so many heroes. There’s the famous Superman, The Incredible Hulk, The very fast Flash, Batman the Dark Knight and others. But in real life they really don’t exist.
We all have our own heroes who are helping us in our daily lives. Some of us make their friends as their hero, and others they say that their hero is their loved ones. But, for me, my heroes are my teachers and the best of all my heroes are my parents. I consider my teachers as my heroes because they’re the one who always giving us knowledge when we are in school. They are also the one who lead us to make our life better. But the most important hero in our life is our parents. They took care of us even when we were still a baby, until we learned to talk, walk and run. Even now, that we are already in higher level in school, they are still taking care of us and leading us to learn how to survive even without them, in short they’re teaching us to become independent.
But even if we have different heroes in life, we must still treasure those good things they taught to us. We must not also forget them for they are our REAL LIFE HEROES.

PNoy and his SONA

This last July 25, 2011, Pnoy delivered his SONA to millions of people here in the Philippines.
For me, he can be as good as the best President in this country. But for others, they say that he is not making a move to make the Philippines rise from the last administration. But I know that he’s just preparing all the things he needed to start and to be sure that what all he had planned will be successful.
But, in the other hand, I also thought that PNoy was just taking cover for those big problems in our country because he uncovered some of the dirt of some of the person in his administration like the budget spent for the coffee in PAGCOR. I think he just uncovered this dirt to cover the fact that we have more serious problems in our country than that one.
But we still have to wait for more things and if he can make our country rise again.

Breastfeeding: A Priceless and more Nutritious Way

Many years before, powdered milk was introduced as a substitute for breast milk. The nutrients on those powdered milks are just enough for the daily needs of babies but breast milk is still more nutritious than those powdered milks that are just substitute for breast milk. Many findings show that babies who grow taking breast milk are healthier than those who take substitute milks.
Why do parents who are buying substitute milks can’t realize that those milks are so expensive compared to breast milk which is free? They also can’t realize that breast milk is more nutritious than substitute milks. Even doctors recommend parents to give breast milk to their babies.
So, why don’t parents give breast milk to babies? It is more nutritious, cheaper than other milks.

Dear PNoy,

Good day to you Mr. President. We all know that they voted for you because they know that you are the right one to become the new President in this country. They believed in you. But now, here we are still waiting for the promises you made before.
I hope you still remember us students. You must improve the quality of learning here in the Philippines because I think that the quality of education in our country is already too low compared to the other countries. We also have problems in school like lack of classrooms and lazy/not good teachers.
Don’t also forget those jobless people. I hope you’ll give them their right jobs so that the rate of poor people in this country will be lowered. I also hope that you’ll increase their wages.
We also want you to stop illegal mining and illegal logging in the whole country. I believe that you can instantly stop those things because you are the President in this country and you have the power to protect our natural resources. Thanks for your time Mr. President and that’s all I want to say to you.
